What is Bichectomy?

Bichectomy refers to the removal of excess fat tissues in the cheeks.

How is Bichectomy Performed?

During bichectomy, these fat tissues in the patient's cheek area are removed to make the cheekbones more prominent and create a new aesthetic appearance of facial features. While the preferred surgical approach may vary, generally the fat tissues are accessed and removed through a small incision inside the mouth. Following surgery, the incisions in the cheeks are closed with absorbable sutures, and patients can return to normal eating within 2 days. This surgery can be performed under local anesthesia, and patients can be discharged on the same day. Patients typically report that all swelling subsides after 3 weeks.
